“FSU London Lads”: Caleb Castro in a field of daffodils

“FSU London Lads” presents Caleb Castro!

Since the FSU London Ladies Series went over so well, we expanded to FSU London Lads as well. Florida State University has an amazing international program, and according to their site, “Florida State is among the nation’s elite for study abroad totals.” The London program in particular has much to offer, and the students that make up the program are intelligent, unique, and driven. So it’s my pleasure to feature these lovely FSU London lads!

Caleb is a recent FSU theatre major graduate who now serves as a Program Assistant at the FSU London Study Centre! He is from Portland, Oregon and worked at Walt Disney World. He loves kids and hisfamily, has a twin brother, and wants to be the next Leonardo DiCaprio.

Read his interview below!

Q: What is your favorite color?

CC: Red. When I was little my mom dress me and my twin brother in red and blue almost always. Since I was so surrounded by red as a child I imagine I took a liking to it because of that. Thanks mom :)

Q: Do you have a favorite number?

CC: My favorite number is 5 because that is the number of letters in my first name and it just feels like a “good” number.

Q: What’s your favorite food and why?

CC: My favorite food is potatoes. I like them in almost every single form. Mashed Potatoes are my real weakness. The only kind I turn away from is scalloped.

Q: Would you rather find true love or 10 million dollars?

CC: $10 million dollars. Sounds selfish but I would be able to really help my friends and family so much more and really influence the globe with that kind of money. While I hate to think I would be alone forever, knowing I changed the lives of a few thousand people or even the world is worth far more to me than my own happiness.

Q: What’s your favorite article of clothing and why?

CC: My favorite article of clothing is my baby blanket. While it might not seem like an article of clothing, it acted as the most versatile one I have ever had. If i needed a cape, tent, coat, or something to wrap around my legs to protect from the bed monsters, it was always there for me.

Q: What do you want to be when you grow up?

CC:  I wanted to be an actor. I still do :D

Q: Would you rather meet an alien visitor or travel through space?

CC: I would rather meet and alien visitor because i’m sure that after we talked they would want to take me through space anyways. I was actually really interested in joining the Mars program but the thought of not being able to come back to my home planet was a little too much to commit to. I love earth and if I knew an alien i’m sure I could go visit space and come back home all the time.

Q: Who is your role model?

CC: Leonardo DiCaprio. He is an unmatched actor, heavily involved humanitarian, and overall extraordinary person. Someone I would be pleased to met and pick his brain.

Q: Would you rather own a ski lodge or a surf camp?

CC: Surf Camp! I love surfing and since my family goes skiing every winter, I’m a little burned out on snow sports. And even though I live in Florida, you can never go to the beach too many times.

Q: Who is your celebrity crush?

CC: Rachel McAdams. If someone can make me fall in love with them in a 120 min and I have never even met them, they are some type of talented love expert. She is a genuinely nice human being and isn’t too bad to look at either.

Q: What’s your favorite place in the world?

CC: My favorite place in the world is my Grandma’s house in Beaverton, Oregon.

Q: Would you rather always lose or never play?

CC: Always lose. I am a glass half full kind of guy. For me, there is no such thing as a loss. Every experience is a good one because you can learn from it. So if I kept losing, I would just look at it as me winning at being the worst, and that sounds like a lot of fun to me.
